The 8th of March, International Women’s Day, has acquired great significance, not as an act of celebration, but of confrontation: confrontation between a totalitarian ideology —which is any ideology that achieves an all-encompassing dimension— and men, by virtue simply of being men. It can be experienced simply by taking a walk around the university campuses or streets of any country in which the Western interpretation of reality prevails. Or by listening to statements and speeches made by its political leaders.

Podría ser el nombre de una nueva enfermedad mental. Porque no puede ser otra cosa.

Treinta y dos naciones se enfrentan en una competición deportiva en la que tan solo una resulta ganadora.

Siendo el ser humano un animal pasional, debido a los resultados obtenidos, los perdedores se lamentan, se afligen, e incluso lloran; mientras que los vencedores explotan de alegría.

Se revuelcan por el césped, se quitan la camiseta, se abrazan, se pellizcan, se tocan los huevos o el coño, que es la expresión corporal más potente del triunfo, y… ¡hasta se besan!

Social stigmas, like criminal offences and diseases, come and go: some disappear while others take their place. Not long ago, being homosexual was a stigma, as was suffering from a mental disorder. The most recent stigmas include being a «chauvinist» and an «abuser», tied into personal disrepute and to obtaining resources; and now the novel «anti-vaxxer», spuriously associated with those who are not vaccinated against COVID-19.

«COVID-19» (xullo do 2021), de Xabier Vila-Coia, é unha obra concibida polo seu autor durante o confinamento establecido polo goberno de España no Real Decreto 463/2020, do 14 de marzo, polo que se declara o estado de alarma para a xestión da situación de crise sanitaria ocasionada polo COVID-19; situación excepcional que se estendeu dende o mesmo día 14 de marzo até o 21 de xuño de 2020. Foi neste período temporal no que se tomaron as fotografías que a constitúen, a maioría contravindo as prohibicións do citado Real Decreto.

La experiencia histórica demuestra que la involución de las libertades es inevitable en todo régimen político y en cualquier organización social humana. Debido a diferentes avatares, es habitual que se den en ellos y en ellas épocas de mayor y menor libre albedrío de los ciudadanos; tanto en la vida pública como en la privada.
